KEY LARGO, Florida Keys — A series of six weekend evening concerts is on tap for the summer months, sponsored by the newly formed Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center, with the season running Friday, June 17, through Friday, Aug. 26.

Performances are to take place at the Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center in Key Largo, located at 102050 Overseas Highway (MM 102).

Highlights include an evening of Broadway vocals with Lisanne Lyons June 17, the jazz sounds and scat singing of Kevin Mahogany Saturday, July 2, and a July 15 show with Troy “Satchmo” Anderson and the Wonderful World Band, a Louis Armstrong tribute group.

Other concerts are set for July 29 with the Doug Bickel New Trio playing contemporary jazz piano, an Aug. 12 vocal performance by Miami’s Marlyn Sanchez and a season finale scheduled Aug. 26 to showcase a Broadway review with Serena Salva, Deneen Bullard-Barriere and the cultural center’s own Debra Ginsberg.

The Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center is a community organization devoted to providing Key Largo residents and visitors with first-rate affordable entertainment, educational programs and events.
