KEY WEST, Florida Keys — More than 100 beers and ales, including unique microbrews, are to be on tap at Key West BrewFest, scheduled Thursday through Monday, Sept. 1-5.

Presented by the Southernmost Hotel Collection and Southernmost Beach Café, the Labor Day weekend celebration benefits the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic.

The selection of beers is to include such intriguingly named offerings as Monk in the Trunk, Magic Hat, Purple Haze and Woodchuck Draft Cider. Other specialty brews and local favorites such as Key West Sunset Ale are to be featured as well.

BrewFest begins with a 5-7 p.m. welcome party and fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Bottlecap Groove Lounge, 1128 Simonton St.

Friday’s highlights include the Swamp Ape IPA Pool Party at the new Pineapple Bar at the Southernmost Hotel, 1319 Duval St. Attractions include contests, games, prizes and more.

The festival’s centerpiece, the lively Brewfest Tasting Festival, is set for 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Key West’s South Beach, adjacent to the Southernmost on the Beach Hotel, 508 South St. Attendees can taste more than 100 beers from around the world while lazing on the Atlantic Ocean beach. Admission is $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door.

Lovers of libations can enjoy fine ale and other brews paired with fine food Sunday during the multicourse Samuel Adams Beer Dinner, slated to begin at 6 p.m. at the Southernmost Beach Café, 1405 Duval St.

Other Brewfest events include nighttime parties, dinners and even beer brunches held at leading Key West restaurants and bars. Lager lovers can find festival details, tickets and memorabilia at the Brewfest Hospitality Suite, open daily at the Southernmost Hotel conference room.
