ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Live beachfront music, mouthwatering food and an acclaimed juried arts and crafts show are sure to whet the entire family’s appetites for the 21st annual Florida Keys Island Fest.

The free-admission event is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1, rain or shine at Founder’s Park, mile marker 87 bayside on Plantation Key. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a full day’s fun.

Saturday’s highlights include all-day live music performances on the beach, an All-American vintage car show, juried arts and crafts show, sand sculpting, kite flying, hula-hoop twirling contests and a smoked fish dip contest.

Another festival mainstay is the unveiling of Islamorada’s official Island Fest poster, each year juried among a handpicked group of artists. This year’s chosen artist, BJ Royster, is to be on hand to autograph the underwater reef scene. The poster is to be available for purchase at the festival and at the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce.

The excitement continues Sunday with the additional-yet-traditional “Taste of Islamorada” event featuring award-winning appetizers, entrees and desserts prepared by Islamorada’s finest restaurants. Festival goers will be able to purchase tickets for delectable samples.

In addition, an art show featuring 100 of Florida’s finest artists and craftspeople is scheduled both days of the festival.
