Seattle, Wash., April 1, 2013 — Holland America Line hosted a fundraiser luncheon aboard ms Ryndam on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Port of Tampa in Florida for Shriners Hospitals for Children, one of the company’s community partners. During their “Lucky in Love with our Donors” St. Patrick’s Day-themed event and auction, Shriners raised approximately $15,000 for the nonprofit organization.
“We truly appreciate the wonderful support of our donors and volunteers,” said Alicia Argiz Lyons, development and marketing director for the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Tampa, “and are grateful to Holland America Line for hosting this lovely lunch that allowed us to increase awareness and raise funds for our health care system.”
Following the luncheon, guests were invited to performances arranged by both Shriners Hospitals and Holland America Line in the ship’s main show lounge.
Shriners Hospitals for Children strives to change lives through innovative pediatric specialty care, research and medical education. The 22 facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico provide advanced care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate.
Each year, Holland America Line hosts more than 25 shipboard charity luncheons for nearly 5,000 guests in its homeport cities. In addition, Holland America Line and its corporate foundation’s charitable giving programs provide cash sponsorships, in-kind donations, free- and reduced-fare cruise donations for nonprofit fundraising events, donations of usable shipboard items around the world, employee volunteerism and other philanthropic activities.
