Costa Cruises received top honors in Porthole Cruise Magazine’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards, earning the title of “Best Mediterranean Itineraries” for the 17th consecutive year. “Italy’s finest” cruise line has been rated best in the Med every year since the award’s inception in 2000.

Costa Cruises is the largest Italian travel company and Europe’s favorite cruise line. While most lines cruise spring through fall in the Mediterranean, Costa sails the region year-round. In 2017, Costa will deploy 10 ships at various times of the year across the eastern and western Mediterranean — from the shores of Spain to the coast of Turkey on itineraries ranging from three to 14 nights. Costa Diadema will spend the entire year exploring the western Med on seven-day cruises.”Costa’s home is in the heart of the Mediterranean, and to have the well-traveled readers of Porthole choose Costa as their favorite Mediterranean Itineraries every year tells us they appreciate our expertise and dedication to excellence,” said Ruben Perez, general manager of Costa Cruises North America. “Thank you to everyone who voted. You continue to humble us and push us to develop the most innovative, diverse and exciting Mediterranean cruises in the industry.”

The line’s flagship, Costa Diadema, nicknamed the “Queen of the Mediterranean,” departs Savona, Italy, weekly on seven-night cruises calling at Marseille, France; Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, Spain; and Civitavecchia (Rome) and La Spezia, Italy, through the end of 2017.

Departing from several countries, Costa’s Mediterranean cruises are port-intensive, allowing guests to explore some of the most popular, historical and culturally important cities in the world. In addition to calls at well-known ports like Istanbul, Turkey; Santorini, Greece; Lisbon, Portugal; and Dubrovnik, Croatia, the line also visits off-the-beaten-path ports like Kotor, Montenegro; Bari, Italy; and Split, Croatia.
